There is an adage that there will be no village without the Temple of Sri Rama. There may be any village without the temple of Sri Rama in Practice, but Hindus will not start worship of any deity without prior adoration of Lord Ganesh and the chant of every deity starts with “Sri Maha Ganapathe Namah”. Everyone imagine Lord Ganesh in one form with the head of Elephant and there are several temples to Lord Ganesh in Akhand Bharat sub continent and the idol of Ganesh without head at Mundkatiya near Gaurikhund narrates the birth of Lord Ganesh.

It is believed that the Kailash peak is the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi and the Gods worship Lord Shiva after taking bath in Manasa Sarovar daily. Legend is that Lord Shiva married Goddess Gauri, incarnation of Parvthi in the presence of Lord Vishnu and other deities at Trigunarayana Temple near Gaurikund. The story of the beheading to the son of Goddess Parvathi by Lord Shiva when object him to meet Goddess Gauri at Gaurikund. This information narrates the importance to visit the headless idol of Ganesh in the Mundkatia temple near Gaurikind. Parvathi get her son back alive and this is the story on the birth of Ganesh known to all Hindus. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Indra and other Gods gifted boons to Ganesh and became the first worshiper of all deities. Shiva headed him as the head of Ganas. Ganesh remove the hurdles in human life and by bestowing boons. Ganesh, the second son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati worshiped with 108 names and consorts are Siddi and Buddi. The God removes hurdles in human life with the auspicious and bestows a happy life. The Pilgrims visit Kedarnath during Char Dham Yatra may the Ganesh Temple at Mundkatiya near Gaurikund.

All the deities worship Ganesh as the lord of knowledge. There are several Swayambu and established idols in various sizes in all states of country and even in Bharat sub continent. Ganesh Chathurdhi celebrated in the country with great devotion erecting idols in different styles and sizes. It is believed that the chant of “Vakratunda Mahakaya, Koti Surya Sama Prabha, Nirvignam Kurume Deva, Sarva Karyeshu Sarvada” gives relief from all hurdles and present success. Ganesh called as Ganesh Maharaj in the northern states, Vinayagar and Ganapathi in south and Gananayaka, Ganadhyaksha, Vignaraja etc of 108 names in Andhra and Telangana and Vinayaka in local districts. There are self manifested and established shrines with different sixes forms and significances and Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Tenple located in Biccavolu Village at a distance of 33 km from the head quarters Kakinada of East Godavari District and 40 km from Rajamahendravram is one among famous Vinayak Temples.

Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi in Biccavolu Village is of great importance. It is believed that  worship the Lord remove all sins and the desires will be fulfill by expressing their desires in the ear of Vinayaka. As per the local information and available inscriptions the temple was built by Chalukyas rules the region fourteen hundred years ago. It is believed that they used to worship the Swambhu Vigneswar before and after the battles. It is believed that the ancient temple was covered under farmland and hundred years ago the Lord appeared in the dream of a devotee informing his existence beneath the agriculture land. The devotee informed to the villagers and the idol of Lord Vinayaka exposed after excavating the land and it is believed that ever since the temple became famous.

The temple built fourteen hundred years ago in the reign of Chalukya and grounded during the Muslim rule. Later the temple brought into light hundred years ago and the greatest wonder to be noticed in the temple is the growing of the idol. It is believed that the idol grew one inch or two centimetres every year and that the idol of the deity was small of coconut size at the beginning and now stands 90 inches height and 50 inches wide. Water flows from the bottom of the left leg of the deity. The statue is 8 feet height and the depth of the base of the idol not known to anybody. The uniqueness of the idol is that the trunk of Vinayaka facing south and towards fight side. This is the only place where the Lord Vinayaka trunk appeared turn to right side.

Ganapathi Homam and Laksha Patri Pooja organised every year on Chaturdhi before full moon day in the month Bhadrapada. The single stone idol called as Vijayananda Ganapathi. Navagraha idols along with Raja Rajeswari Devi, Chandrasekara, Nandi Parvathi, Golingeswara and Subrahmanyeswara can be seen in the court yard. Subrahmanya festivals are also organised every year along with Ganesh Navaratri.     

It is believed that Lord Ganapathi stood support to those who perform Ganapathi Homam in this temple. Vinayaka Chathurdhi and Margshira Sashti festivals will be performed in the temple On every fourth day (i.e) Chathrudhi succeed by no moon day Abhisek and Chandi Homam organised in the temple.

Pilgrims may travel to Rajahmahendravaram from all the corners of the country by Train or Air and reach the temple by road.
