Mathura is the district headquarters in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It is considered to be the heart of Indian culture. Since Lord Krishna was born in Mathura and Mathura is also called as ‘Krishna Janma Bhoomi’.Harati is offered to River Yamuna every evening on the banks of the river at Vishrama Ghat. It is said to be the place where Lord Krishna rested after killing his uncle Kamsa. Here are the pictures of River Yamuna and her brother Yama, the god of death. Mathura is famous for temples like Prema Mandir at Vrindavan, Govindji Temple, Madan Mohan Temple, Radha Damodar Temple, Radha Gopinath Temple, Bankebihari Temple, Krishna Balaram Temple and Rangaji Temple. There is a galaxy of temples and Sevakunja nearby to Vrindavan, where Krishna spent his childhood. It is a very sacred place to the pilgrims. It also includes circling around the temples on the prescribed route in the premises of Mathura and Vrindavan and turning around the Govardhan Mountain.
