Hinduism plays a significant role in human life from Krutha, Thretha and Dwapara eras continuing in present Kali era. In the entire eras, God wears several incarnations to punish evil and to protect sages and his devotees. The demons get boons from Brahma, the creator and used to show their sadism on sages and devotees of God in all these eras. Vishnu, status god and Shiva the destructor wear several incarnations to punish the evils and protect sages and their devotees from their harassment. The places where Vishnu and Shiva wear incarnations spread all over India are came in to existence as holy places with the respective incarnation names. There are 64 Temples of Shiva and twelve only being called as Dwadasa Jyothirlingas and holy places of Shiva The holy places of Dwadasa Jyothirlingas spread from Kedareswar in north to Rameswaram in South and from Vaidhyanath in the east to Somanath of Gujarat in the West protecting our nation from times immemorial.
The legend is that Brahma and Vishnu argued about supreme creation. Shiva prepared the three worlds as an endless Jyothirlinga pillar of light. Brahma decides to travel downwards along with the pillar and Vishnu to treavel upwards respectively, to find the end of the light. Brahma lied that he had found the end, while Vishnu agreed his defeat. Shiva appeared as a second pillar of light and find the lie told by Brahma. Shiva got angry on Brahma and cursed Brahma him not to have place in ceremonies and Vishnu would be worshipped in eras.
Triambakeswar is the 10th jyothirlingam among the Dwadasa Jyothirlingams is near Brahmagiri mountain and 30 km from Nasik of Maharastra State and origin of Godavari River in the western Ghat of Southern India. Hindus believe that the Jyothirlingam fulfill their wishes. The present temple constructed in the place of old temple in the year 1740 and there are entrance gates on four sides.
Every Jyothrilinga is in the form of a Pillar without any starting and closing points. Due to heavy abhishekam with water, the Jyothirlinga top became frottage and the Jyothirlinga covered with a Golden Crown of trimurthi Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswar which is capped with valuable stones of Pandavas reign. This Crown will be exhibited on every Monday at specific times.
There is a legend about the profound of three branches of Godavari River in its origin at Brahmagiri Mountain. Sage Gowthama performed yoga and Varuna Deva gave boon of rain every day in the surroundings of his Ashram. Gowthama used to plant paddy around the Ashram in the morning with the water and give food the large number of sages in the Ashram by cutting in the afternoon. Gowthama gained reward from the blessings of the sages. Indra ordered the clouds to sheep in aall parts of Triambakeswar feeling that the sages will left out the Ashram and the reward of Gowthama will be decline. But Gowthama requested and promised to arrange food to the sages. Gowthama observed that a cow spoiling the crop. He has thrown the cow from his fields due and the cow died. The cow named Jaya is the dearest friend of Maa Paarvathi. The sages refused to take food as Gowthama got sin of Gohatya. Gowthama requested solution for his sin. The sages told to perform yoga to have bath with Maa Ganga as a boon from Lord Shiva which will release him from the sin. Gowthama performed yoga for one thousand years on Brahma Giri. Lord Shiva making Tandava Nrutya and left Ganga from his hair. Ganga appeared at Triambaka Teerdha, Gangadwar, Varaha Teerdha, Rama Lakshman Teerdha and Gangasagar Teerdha. She has disappear with angry on Gowthama. Gowthama failed to take bath and he has left enchanted grass asking Ganga to stay. Ganga stayed and the teerdh being called as kushavaartha Teerdha. Gowthama released here from his sin. Godavari river born from here. It is believed that all people irrespective of gender of PISCES Zodic sign visit and worship the Triambakeswar Jyothirlingam will be relieved from all their hurdles in life.
There are several families in Nasik Tpwm. There are several Veda Schools, Ashrams and Matams in the town.
