As a part of the Pilgrimage to the holy shrines in Himalayas Pilgrims have to start their pilgrimage from Haridwar to visit Mukthinath and Pasupathinath in Nepal.
Muktinath
Mukthinath known as Mukthi Kshetra means the place of liberation (moksh) is a popular Vishnu temple located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain near Mustang, Nepal. It is important to both Hindus and Buddhists. This temple is considered to be 106th among the 108 Divya Desam under Sri Vaishnava sect. It is also one of the 108 Siddhpeeth and is named Mahadevi. Although the temple has a Vaishnav origin, it is also sacred in Buddhism because Guru Padmasambhava meditated there for some time.
Pasupathinath
Pashupatinath Temple or Pasupatinath Mandir is a famous and sacred Hindu temple complex that is located on the banks of the Bagmati River and north-east of Kathmandu in the eastern part of Kathmandu Valley. Pashupatinath Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu and exists before 400 B.C. The deity here famous as Pashupati, This temple complex is a collection of temples and ashrams raised over the land as a cultural heritage site. God Shiva and Maa Parvati came to the Kathmandu Valley and take rest at the banks of Bagmati river.
