Dwaraka is a Peninsula on the shore of the Arabian Sea in old Saurashtra and present Gujarat State. The Godland is an old city on the banks of Gowthami River in Dwaraka District. As per the Legends of Purana, this is the Goden Kingdom ruled by Sri Krishna nearly four thousand years ago. Dwaraka is the gateway to the spiritual unity of Brahma. The birthday of Sri Krishna performed most gloriously in Dwarakadish Temple. Dwaraka defined in Divya Prabhanda, and is one of the four Dham along dedicated to Lord Vishnu with Badarinath, Puri and Rameswaram. It is familiar as one among the 108 Divya Desam of Lord Vishnu praised by the twelve Alvars in Divya Prabandh. and capital of the kingdom of Sri Krishna. After the extermination of Kamsa in Madhura, Sri Krishna resided here. Sri Krishna arrived to Dwaraka from Madhura and built the city in an extent of nearly 150 kilo meters near the Arabian Sea. Krishna decided to reside at Dwaraka after the death of Jarasandha, king of Magadha and resided in Bet Dwaraka along with his parents,  He has ruled his kingdom from Dwaraka. Later, Aryans also ruled Dwaraka as the capital of their kingdom.

Dwaraka is well connected with all cities in the Country by road, train and air. Dwarakadish temple in Dwaraka built four thousand years ago and was destructed in the invasions of Moghals. The temple reconstructed six hndred years ago. The Temple was renovated and Golden Kalasa arranged to the peak of the temple by the King of Baroda. Dwaraka is notified as one among the 12 centers for Cultural Preservation and added as an monument in the list of Preservation Scheme. Suspension Bridge from Jagat Mandir in the main Dwaraka to Panchakul in the island in the name of Sudhama, The bridge was built by Reliance Industries and Tourism Development Corporation of the State. There was Port near Gomathi River in olden days. There are other temples of Rukmini and Gomathi Ghat. Light House is the special attraction here.

Shree Dwarakadish Temple

Dwarakadish temple popularly called as Jagat Mandir since it was constructed by Raja Jagat Singh is in the middle of Dwaraka City. The temple constructed in the City built by Sri Krishna facing west and equivalent level with the sea. The idol of the principle deity Dwarakadish with four hands called Trivikrama is in the sanctum and a flag with pictures of Sun and Moon blown up on the peak of the temple. The temple kept open from 6-00 AM to 1-00 Noon and 5-00 PM to 9-30PM.

Gomathi Ghat

Pilgrims reach Gomathi Ghat and get down to the Gomathi River through the steps. They take bath in the Gomathi River and perform darshan of Dwarakadish. There are idols of Sea (Samudrudu), Saraswathi and Lakshmana at the Ghat. At the confluence place of Gowthami with Sea (sagar), there are the temples of Samudra Narayana Temple, Chakra Narayana Temple with the print of Chakra (wheel), the weapon of Lord Vishnu and Gomathi Temple in which the idol of Gomathi River said to be brought by Sage Vasista to earth.

Rukmini Mandir

The temple Rukmini, the principle queen of Sri Krishna is at a distance of 2 km from Dwaraka. It is believed that the temple is in existence 2500 years ago but seems to be built 1000 years ago. The Tower and outer walls are with various idols of Gods and looks beautiful. In the sanctum, the idols of Rukmini and two Elephants were engraved beautifully. There are other temples, Kalibari Temple, Siddhi Vinayak Temple, Golok Dham and Iskon Temple, There are Low, Medium and Luxery Hotels for stay in Dwaraka. South and North Indian dishes are available in the nearby Restaurants.  

Sharada Peeth 

Sri Sarada Peet or Sharada Math is one amongst the four cardinal peeth established by Adi Shankaracharya to preserve and propagate Sanatana Dharm and Advaita Vedanta. It is Located in the city of Dwaraka and is the West Matt amongst the fourth Peet. It is also known as the Kalika Matt, The matt initiated by Adi Shankara as per the tradition holds authority over Sama Veda.
